DataCamp

Learn R, Python, Data Science & Statistics Online

Having been a member of DataCamp since its inception in 2013, we’ve watched DataCamp grow from a humble, enthusiast-based platform from and for some of the most respected analysts in the data science community to the polished and commercial platform that it is today

Introduction to DataCamp online courses

Anyone who’s been in the data and analytics industry for a while will hold certain names and enthusiast-curated projects synonymous with the cutting edge of opensource data science projects (such as Bioconductor & Kaggle – a data science community platform subsequently bought by Google). DataCamp is no exception.

Despite being founded after both of the big names above, DataCamp has certainly earned its place as a respected member of the key resources platforms amongst the data science community. Although it looked and felt very different back then, it still focusses on its core foundation extremely well.

As former data scientists involved in the very communities we’ve mentioned above, we know that any programming language is merely a means to an end, and that it’s the underlying mathematics that counts. You might decide to code up your neural network (NN) or support vector machine (SVM – don’t worry if you don’t know what those are, you soon will!) in Python (as we did), MATLAB (as we also did), Java, C++… the list goes on, but without know what it is you’re coding then knowing a language is of little use, or is it?

These days there are hundreds of open-source libraries you can call upon to generate your brand spanking new neural network with one line of R code, and the very nature of data science has changed to become much more accessible to newcomers focussing on practical, hands-on modern day skills. This is where DataCamp comes into its own.

If you’d rather get down and dirty with the hardcore linear algebra that drives these algorithms, be sure to check out some of the University-grade modules offered through edX or on our Professional Partners page! DataCamp data, statistics and programming online courses

You might think that “data” or “analytics” are fairly narrow topics in the grand scheme of things, but within this specialization there are hundreds of categories and sub-topics that you might never have thought of. Whether you’re looking for a general overview of DataCamp’s offering, or you have something more specific in mind, we have broken down the main “Tracks & Paths” (a set of smaller courses that make up a specialization) below:

  1. Main Overview and Course Types
  2. Data Science Tracks & Paths
  3. Programming Tracks & Paths
  4. Statistics Tracks &  Paths
  5. Data Visualization Tracks & Paths
Main Sections & Course Types

From the very basic fundamentals to building an entire career as a data scientist, DataCamp has the track for you! If you run a company or department you can even sign up for business packages & train your whole team!

Data Science Tracks & Paths

Depending on your preferred language and intended application, you can choose a path that best suited to your needs. You can even transfer from one language to another and then delve into the nuances of your chosen route

Programming Small
Programming Tracks & Paths

If you’re just starting out you might want to look at the programming section before fully embarking on your data journey. Here you’ll find great fundamentals to get you going! It might even turn out that Excel was ideal for you all along!

Statistics Small
Statistics Tracks & Paths

Statistics and Statistical Learning underpin the very foundation on many machine learning algorithms we interchangeably call “AI”. Even if you intend to use ready-made data package, it’s still crucial to understand the why behind it all

Data Visualisation
Data Visualization Tracks & Paths

Visualization is the most effective way to communicate your findings in the data, and with so many industries becoming “data-driven”, this is perhaps the fastest platform to boost your data career and build upon!
